Definition: This is a concept to help students take ownership of their learning. It starts with teachers modeling expectations to show students what is expected of them. Then it moves to a “we do” model where the teacher and students partner in the learning process. Ultimately, we move to complete student independence in their learning. This is not necessarily a linear process, it will vary depending on student needs. The teacher needs to be responsive to the group, making adjustments based on what the students need.
